What is engineered wood flooring?

Engineered hardwood flooring is a more recently developed type of flooring that addresses many of the pitfalls of hardwood flooring – namely the lack of stability in hard wood flooring.

Engineered hardwood flooring is still made of real wood which is layered together to make a much more durable product. The top layer shows off all of the natural characteristics of the wood, just like any other wood floor and can even be sanded down and refinished

This layered construction means that engineered hardwood flooring is not prone to expansion, shrinkage or warping due to changes in temperatures and humidity.

Furthermore, it can be laid on top of an existing floor and be stapled, glued or floated making installation much easier than with a traditional hardwood floor.
